Begin your morning with a peaceful 2-hour kayak across Sydney Harbour. Take in the golden views, feel the calm of early light, and enjoy freshly brewed coffee from your kayak — a truly memorable way to start your day.
A Peaceful Start on the Harbour
Before the sun rises and the city awakens, Sydney Harbour is at its most tranquil — calm, quiet, and breathtaking. It’s the perfect time to explore this stunning harbour from the comfort of a kayak on Sydney by Kayak’s award-winning Sunrise Kayak & Coffee tour. Sip freshly brewed coffee as the morning light washes over Sydney’s most iconic sights — the Harbour Bridge and Opera House. Rich in natural beauty, culture, and history, the harbour holds stories we can’t wait to share with you.
Our fun, friendly, and experienced kayak guides will meet you at Lavender Bay boat ramp (just look for the bright kayaks). You’ll be fitted with a life jacket and given a full safety briefing and paddle instruction before heading out on the water to watch the sun rise beneath the Sydney Harbour Bridge. It’s a calm, unforgettable way to start your day.
Lavender Bay and the Blues Point foreshore are stunning spots to watch the city wake up. Between November and January, the sun rises early, allowing you to paddle beneath the Harbour Bridge. During the cooler months, we head toward Goat Island or Sawmillers Reserve. No matter the time of year, you’ll enjoy breathtaking views and guaranteed photo moments — with the Harbour Bridge and Opera House behind you and a warm coffee in hand.
Our kayak tours and Sydney Harbour Highlights Tour are a great way to experience kayaking for the first time. Kayak Guides will brief you on safety and demonstrate the best paddling techniques, ensuring you have a great time out on the harbour. Let us know if you are a ‘newbie’ on the paddle questionnaire, so we can give you all the pro tips before you hit the water.
Just like a trip to the beach, you will need sunscreen, water, a hat, sunglasses, and comfortable kayaking clothes that you don’t mind getting a little wet from paddle splash.
Thongs/flip flops are okay in the kayak, but water shoes are highly recommended to protect you from oyster shells on the beach.
We use single kayaks, which are extremely stable, comfortable, and great for both beginners and experienced paddlers.
Never fear — if you fall behind or get tired, our guides will happily give you a rest by towing you behind their kayaks. (This option is great for kids, although adults have been known to take us up on the offer too!)
